About

A practice built around
the harder brief.

Most engineering problems have a known answer. This practice exists for the ones that do not.

Vertex takes on the work that falls outside a standard product line. A physical constraint that rules out the obvious solution. An environment that punishes anything not built for it. A requirement that only becomes clear once the easy options have been tried and failed.

The practice is led directly by the engineer doing the work, from first conversation to final delivery. No account managers, no handoffs, no brief interpreted secondhand. Every option is tested against real conditions, and anything that does not survive that scrutiny is discarded, not shipped.

This is boutique by design, not circumstance. Fewer, harder problems. Each given the attention it actually needs.

How we think

Three principles this practice
does not compromise on.

P/01Evidence over assumption

Claims are tested before they are relied on. A sensor's real-world behaviour, a pricing model, a supplier's spec sheet. If it has not been verified, it is treated as unproven.

P/02Honesty over the easy yes

If something is not achievable within your constraints, that is said plainly, along with what is achievable instead. A confident answer is only worth giving if it is accurate.

P/03Built to actually deploy

A solution is not finished when it works once on a bench. It is finished when it survives the environment it was built for and can be handed over with confidence.
